Welcome to season 4!
As we continue the story of Scripture, we are jumping into God's Persistence from 1 Kings 11 through Nehemiah. Here we see the heart of God as he promises to give his people a new heart and Spirit within them. In this opening episode we look back at the story so far and still to come asking how each part of Scripture shapes the way we see God, ourselves, and this world.

Passion Week Devotional: Last Words
HE IS RISEN! This reality affirms everything that Jesus said from the cross. That he has the power to forgive his enemies, offer salvation to the sinner, and comfort for those he loves. The cross is the great victory, reversal, and affirmation of everything Jesus said from the cross. It is finished because he is risen.
God gets the last word... and affirms every word he has ever spoken.

Passion Week Devotional: Last Words
As we prepare our hearts for Easter, listen into the final words Jesus said from the cross. Each day we will look at one of the seven statements Jesus said as he gave his life for humanity.
The final words of Jesus were directed at his Father. Giving everything he had, Jesus finally rest in the loving arms of his dad who he has never stopped trusting. His rest in the Father invites us to rest in the Father as well. Because in Christ, every cross leads to resurrection.

Knowing that everything needed for your salvation was accomplished, Jesus cried out "IT IS FINISHED!" Your sin has been paid in full. So why do we run back to the sin and shame that so easily entangles us? You have been set free. Walk in that freedom.

Passion Week Devotional: Last Words
As we prepare our hearts for Easter, listen into the final words Jesus said from the cross. Each day we will look at one of the seven statements Jesus said as he gave his life for humanity.
Knowing that all had been done for our salvation, Jesus reveals the means of salvation: himself. In these two words, "I thirst," we see the full humanity and divinity of Christ at play. There is only one mediator between God and man and that is the man Jesus Christ. In him, our thirst is quenched.

After speaking to those around him, Jesus lifts his eyes to his Father in heaven. Only this time, he does not see the Father's smile, only his wrath. While quoting Psalm 22, we get a window into a reality we cannot fathom. The object of the Father's greatest love became the object of his greatest wrath.

Jesus has offered forgiveness to his enemies, salvation to the sinner, and now, he offers comfort to those he loves. Knowing his mother would be left without care, Jesus calls on John to care for his mother after he is gone. So far, Jesus has yet to speak of himself upon the cross. He simply keeps loving those around him... even to the end.

After offering forgiveness to his enemies, he offers salvation to the sinner. Jesus declares to an accused criminal, "Today, you will be with me in paradise." All this man did was trust in Jesus. That was his (and our) only entrance into paradise to be with Jesus.

As we prepare our hearts for Easter, listen into the final words Jesus said from the cross. Each day we will look at one of the seven statements Jesus said as he gave his life for humanity.
Before we appreciate the beauty of these words, we need to understanding more fully the horrors of a Roman crucification. However hard it may be, let's paint a picture of what it looked like for Jesus to be hung on a tree.
