C&C: The New Tree of Life

Creation and the Cross.
The center of the garden was the tree of life and the river of blessing. This subtle depiction in God's creation shows up again. A new tree of life and river of blessing is seen with Jesus on the cross and once more in eternity. For those who see Jesus as the new tree of life and receive from him what he offers (the free gift of salvation), eternity awaits with Jesus as we receive the life and blessing of Jesus forever.

C&C: Victory at a Cost

Creation and the Cross.
Jesus said 7 distinct things from the cross. The last thing said in John's gospel was three simple words, "It is finished." These three words connect back to God's response to sin in Genesis 3 and the fall of mankind. A statement was made and a shadow was shown, both a foretaste of Jesus. What was promised by God was accomplished by Christ on the cross. What was needed for your salvation was paid by him. This would be the greatest of victories, but one that came at the gravest cost.

C&C: The Last Supper and the Start of Something New

Creation and the Cross.
On the night before Jesus died, he gathered together with his disciples to celebrate the Passover Seder. This was a meal that dated back to the Exodus event. The Hebrew people celebrated it for over 1,000 years with the same customs attached to it. Jesus breaks the norm and goes off script. He connects the events of the Old Testament directly to himself. From Creation to the Cross, God has made certain promises to his people. Each of these promises will culminate with Jesus Christ as he ushers in a new relationship between God and man.

C&C: The True King, the Triumphal Entry, and the Temple

Creation and the Cross.
When Jesus entered into Jerusalem, he is declaring himself to be the king. Everything that was customary to do in that time period, Jesus does. Only Jesus does everything very... Jesus-like. He flips the script on what is expected. Jesus ends his triumphal entry in the temple. The temple was meant to represent the Garden of Eden, where God's space and human's space overlapped. God is returning to the Garden and has something to say that's worth listening to.

Creation and the Cross

As we prepare our hearts for Easter, we will be moving through a mini-series called, "Creation and the Cross." One of the main emphasis of Storyverse Ministries is to help people connect the story of Scripture to the story of Jesus. Throughout this series we will be looking at subtle moments and details in the passion week, the cross, and the resurrection and connect them back to the creation account in Genesis. Each day there will be a 5-10 minute podcast designed to help you remember and reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus. So join us as we journey together from creation to the cross.

S2 E10: Love and Strength

Exodus 5-11.
The exodus event is a spectacle of God's love and strength. He is loving enough to want to save his people and strong enough to do so. God goes through great lengths to reveal these two aspects of himself. In this episode, we look at the beginning of the exodus event and see the strength and love of God combine as he frees his people from slavery. This same strength and love is seen all the more fully with Jesus on the cross as God saves us from our own sin and slavery.
